"The Vision of Conjunctive Points" with Eric Owen Moss "Architect", Frederick and Laurie Smith "Owners", Hugh Milstein "Building Tenant", and Samitaur Constructs "Developers"

This is a great interview because they tell the story of how they re-developed Hayden Tract, Culver City, from and abandoned area to housing several billion-dollar companies (21 and counting). They discuss their original vision, how they came together, the challenges they faced and the solutions they provided. The wife, Laurie Smith, seems to hit the answers right on the money. Very articulate panel. You get a glimpse of Moss too.

Kanye West Explains "Saint Pablo" Tour Stage

Kanye is the Goat for must see interviews on architecture other than Eric Owen Moss. This is solely a clip that I came across while researching his chronology of stage designs. I am currently revisiting interviews where I've heard him touch on the topics of architecture and art and identifying key moments that are important ideas.

"Sunset Strip Pilot Creative Off-Site Advertising Sign" Project Finalists Public Presentations

This competition brings up a great problem, the most crucial question in any development project, and that is- How will it produce revenue? The city of WeHo proposes a solution which is to re-define what a billboard is and charge companies top dollar to advertise on them. I think it's a brilliant idea in today's eCommerce market, and applies to our site since we touch 7th street bridge and the 10 Freeway on the North and South end of the site.  The different proposals are a great resource to study and understand what works and what WINS. Tom Wiscombe, the Undergraduate Director at SCI-Arc, was first place, beating Zaha Hadid, Gensler (Multi Billion Dollar firm) and will be commissioned to build his design. This is a dope video because we get to hear him sell his idea to a jury of City officials, who control the vacant land and fund projects with taxpayers money. Wiscombe makes a big claim that his project will be "the most instagrammable billboard in the world". But that is, until we build ours. -OP
